Front: Foundation of Tenochtitlan (today Mexico City); Grand Tenochtitlan (part of the mural painting “Mercado de Tlatelolco” by Diego Rivera); Eagle with cactus (back side of the “Teocalli de la Guerra Sagradsa” (monolithic pre-Columbian miniature of an Aztec temple which served as the throne of Moontezuma).
Back: Ecosystem of the rivers and lakes; Ajolote/Axolotl (Ambystoma mexicanum) in the Xochimilco lake (Mexico City).
Security features: Integrated magnetic thread with the denomination of the note and a pre-Hispanics based design.
Printer: Banco do Mexico (Mexico) – BdM.
Watermark: Large, complex transparent window that features G-SWITCH™ and METALIX™ inks. The G-SWITCH security feature changes colour when a note is moved, or seen from a different angle. On the new 50 pesos note, the G-SWITCH ink changes from blue to gold, while the METALIX ink is copper coloured.
