Bulgaria – new 100 levs banknote

New Series of Bulgarian Banknotes

The Bulgarian National Bank puts into circulation a new series of banknotes. The overall design and the main elements of the new banknotes have no significant changes as compared with the banknotes in circulation. The changes in the banknotes of the new series result from the use of new security features.

The first banknote of the new series is a BGN 100 denomination, issue 2018, and will enter into circulation on 28 December 2018 as legal tender.

The obverse of the banknote features a portrait of the writer Aleko Konstantinov, figures and elements connected with the tourist movement in Bulgaria, the title page of his travel notes ‘To Chicago and Back’, vertically printed texts ‘Алеко Константинов’ (Aleko Konstantinov) and ‘1863-1897’, and the denomination of the banknote in numbers and in words.

The reverse of the banknote features elements connected with the life and works of Aleko Konstantinov, and the denomination of the banknote is given in numbers and in words.
